    Before the Ceremony

The church is very busy this weekend with weddings, so there will be a wedding mass ending a half hour before our wedding mass begins. Therefore, we'll need to use our time efficiently. Once the other mass has emptied the church, the florist and musicians will go in and start setting up. Tammy will aid in directing these groups. Hopefully, this will begin around 1:50 P.M..

The brass quintet, led by David Goya, the trombone player, will begin to play prelude music at 2:00 P.M..

The bridal party should have arrived by this time, and Lawrence will be waiting with James in the sacristy. Carol will be waiting with her bridesmaids in another room.

Eddie, Jerry, and Dave Welte should be assisting Paul Yeh, David Yeh, and Paul Kim in seating people as they arrive--the bride's guests to the left side of the church and the groom's guests to the right. The very first row of pews is reserved for the bridal party. The two rows after those pews are reserved for family members on the bride's side, and the three rows after the first row are reserved for family members on the groom's side of the church. Keep this in mind when seating guests. Any other guests may be seated on a first-come basis. Ushers and groomsmen, please remember to have guest sign the guest book as they arrive. Any guests arriving with gifts should be directed to the gifts table.

Victor and Kevin should be checking in gifts, should any arrive at the ceremony. Please remember to make sure that there is a label placed with the giver's name on the package, even if a card is included.

At 2:10 the bridal party and priest will line up for the processional. Tammy will take part in directing the ordering of the line and telling people when they should begin to walk. The processional will begin with Fr. Alex and Phillip. They will be followed by the groomsmen and bridesmaids, paired in the following manner: Irene and James, Lisa and Eddie, Leti and Jerry, and Kathryn and Dave. They will walk down the center aisle, and then seperate before the altar. The groomsmen will line up to the right (when facing it) of the altar, and the bridesmaids will line up to left of the altar, in the order as they arrive, with Irene and James nearest the center, and Kathryn and David at the ends. Following the attendants will be Carina, Sarah, and Adrian side by side. If Sarah doesn't want to walk, then just Carina and Adrian will walk. Once they arrive before the altar, Adrian will join the men, and Carina will join the women. The children will be followed by Lawrence and his parents. When they reach the altar, they will remain standing, facing the door with their backs to the altar. All these people will walk in to the tune of Trumpet Voluntary, played by the Brass Quintet. Then, Lois, the organist, will begin to play Wagner's Bridal Chorus, and Carol and her parents will proceed down the aisle to the altar. When they reach the altar, the two sets of families will hug and greet each other, then the parents will take their seats in the second row of pews. Carol and Lawrence will stand in the center, Lawrence to the right, Carol to the left, facing the altar, and the mass will begin.

    Order of the Mass

    Entrance Rite

    Processional As described above.

After the processional, everyone is to remain standing throughout the entrance rite.

    Opening Prayer The priest reads:

Father, hear our prayers for Carol and Lawrence, who today are united in marriage before your altar. Give them your blessing, and strengthem their love for each other. We ask you this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

    All respond: Amen.

Everyone is seated, including the bridal party. The bridesmaids are seated to the left of the altar, the groomsmen and couple are seated to the right of the altar.

    Liturgy of the Word

Karen goes to the podium to the left of the altar to read the first reading.

    Old Testament Reading Karen reads:

A reading from the Song of Songs.

    I hear my Beloved.
    See how he comes
    leaping on the mountains,
    bounding over the hills,
My Beloved is like a gazelle,
    like a young stag.

    See where he stands
    behind our wall.
He looks in at the window,
he peers in through the lattice.

My Beloved lifts up his voice,
    he says to me,
    "Come then, my love,
    my lovely one, come.

My dove, hiding in the clefts of the rock,
in the coverts of the cliff,
    show me your face,
    let me hear your voice;
    for your voice is sweet
    and your face is beautiful."

I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine.
    He said to me:

Set me like a seal on your heart,
like a seal on your arm.
For love is strong as Death,
    jealousy relentless as Sheol.
The flash of it is a flash of fire,
a flame of the Lord himself.

    Love no flood can quench,
    no torrents drown.

    The word of the Lord.

All respond: Thanks be to God.

Karen is seated, and the Cantor sings from where she stands.

    Responsorial Psalm The Cantor sings:

The Lord is compassionate to all his creatures.

    He, Yahweh, is merciful, tenderhearted,
    slow to anger, very loving,
    and universally kind;
    Yahweh's tenderness
    embraces all his creatures.

Yahweh, all your creatures thank you,
    and your faithful bless you.
Patiently all creatures look to you
to feed them throughout the year.

Righteous in all that he does,
Yahweh acts only out of love,
standing close to all who invoke him,
close to all who invoke Yahweh faithfully.

Anita goes to the podium to the left of the altar to read the second reading.

    New Testament Reading Anita reads:

A reading from St. Paul's letters to the Corinthians.

Be ambitious for the higher gifts. And I am going to show you a way that is better than any of them.

If I have all the eloquence of men or of angels, but speak without love, I am simply a gong booming or a cymbal clashing.

If I have the gift of prophecy, understanding all the mysteries there are, and knowing everything and if I have faith in all its fullness, to move mountains, but without love, then I am nothing at all.

If I give away all that I possess, piece by piece, and if I even let them take my body and burn it, but am without love, it will do me no good whatever.

Love is always patient and kind; it is never jealous; love is never boastful or conceited; it is never rude or selfish; it does not take offense, and is not resentful.

Love takes no pleasure in other people's sins but delights in the truth; it is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes.

Love does not come to an end.

    The word of the Lord.

All respond: Thanks be to God.

    Anita returns to her seat.

Everyone stands for the Gospel Acclamation and the reading of the Gospel.

Gospel Acclamation and Verse The Cantor leads the congregation in singing:

Alleluia. Alleluia. He who lives in love, lives in God, and God in him. Alleluia.

    Gospel The priest reads:

A reading from the holy gospel according to John

    Jesus said to his disciples:

"As the Father has loved me,
    so I have loved you.
    Remain in my love.

    If you keep my commandments
you will remain in my love,
just as I have kept my Father's commandments
    and remain in his love

    I have told you this
so that my own joy may be in you
    and your joy be complete.

    This is my commandment:
    love one another,
    as I have loved you."

    The gospel of the Lord.

All respond: Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.
