Texhnolyze unofficial information page

Texhnolyze debuted in Japan on April 16th, 2003. The first digisubs of it have finally emerged and I've managed to watch one episode so far. The first episode is very dark and doesn't give much away. It will be interesting to see how the story proceeds.

In the meantime, I've set up this webpage in order to collect and organize information about the show. This page will start off fairly small, but as more information becomes available, I expect that it will get bigger. I hope you find it useful. Feel free to contact me if you have any Texhnolyze info or images to share.

Why am I doing this?

In summary, big names involved in the production of serial experiments lain are heavily involved in Texhnolyze. Chiaki Konaka, Yoshitoshi ABe, and Yasuyuki Ueda are all working together again. Those three have certainly been active in anime since their making of lain, but they haven't all worked together since then. Personally, as a lain fan (here's a link to thought experiments lain, my lain site), I find it quite exciting, and I look forward to seeing what they came up with.

4/12/03 Update

The official website is here: http://www.geneon-ent.co.jp/rondorobe/anime/TEXHNOLYZE/

Being Japanese-language deficient, I didn't get too much out of the site, but here's what I noticed of interest:

  1. Obviously, Pioneer is involved in this project.
  2. Madhouse seems to be involved as well.
  3. Yasuyuki Ueda (serial experiments lain producer) is listed in the creator credits
  4. The opening song will be "Guardian Angel (Xavier's Edit)" by Juno Reactor.

Here is the official website of Juno Reactor: http://www.reactorleak.com/

(as a side note, it looks like Juno Reactor contributed to the score of Matrix Reloaded)

  5. The closing song will be a song by Gackt. Here's a Gackt site I found: http://www.mahamari.com/story/

After hunting around, I found some more info on animefringe.com (http://www.animefringe.com/magazine/2003/04/briefs/

From there, we can add the following facts (or rumors):

  1. Chiaki Konaka (serial experiments lain screenplay writer) is the writer. This is confirmed on Chiaki Konaka's webpage.
  2. Yoshitoshi ABe (serial experiments lain original character designer) is the (original?) character designer. Mentions of Texhnolyze on ABe's webpage confirm his involvement in the series.
  3. Hamazaku Hirotsugu (Midnight Eye Goku character designer) is the director. This is unconfirmed.

This Texhnolyze image was found on one of Madhouse's webpages:

4/13/03 Update

Fuji TV now has an official Texhnolyze site:

http://www.fujitv.co.jp/jp/b_hp/texhno/

The following images can be found on that page:

According to http://www.portalbangu.com/noticias/wmprint.php?ArtID=2404:

According to http://dear.to/sawasdeegackt:

According to http://anime.realidadalternativa.com/articulos/abril_2003/2003-04-03-12-30.shtml:

That site also has a brief intro to the plot of Texhnolyze. It's in Spanish, so use Babelfish to translate it.

5/6/03 Update

The following site has the most complete (and hopefully, the most accurate) production info for Texhnolyze that I could find:
http://scac.prohosting.com/anime-caravan/s-texhnolyze.htm

That site also includes a brief summary of the plot and a description of the two main characters. I suspect that information comes from a magazine (i.e. Newtype).

Here are some more sites with info on the series:

AnimeNfo.Com : TEXHNOLYZE general info

cdjapan.co.jp: TEXHNOLYZE CD, DVD, and VHS info

I also found a mailing list for Texhnolyze discussion (created by lainlist's very own Arakune):

Yahoo! Groups : texhnolyze

At the time of this writing, there aren't many members. But hopefully that will change soon.

As I'm sure you can tell, I don't really have the time to update this site a whole lot, so after this update, I don't really expect to. Here, then, are some more links to other Texhnolyze sites you might find useful:

Finally, Hikari (a reader of this site) sent me the following Cast and Staff translations from the official Texhnolyze site (linked above). Many thanks for her hard work!

["The names are transliterated to the best of my ability. Some kanji have many readings, so I picked the most commonly used ones and/or the ones used as names. For names in Katanaka, I put what i think it is, and the original kana reading in (), in case you have different ideas...I hope this helps a bit. The translations should be good, and most of the names should be okay."]
