Triad has released (27.8.04) a nine-minute promo of Air the Movie. It is available in [WWW] http://a.scarywater.net/triad/

Thank you. I've added a link to their main website now in case people want to get a different version than the one I worked on.

Amon
Cool, you even translated audible part of the song "Tori no Uta". Good work :) It's very beautiful song, so how about translating the whole of it and post the lyrics here ;)

Thanks. We have most of it translated. We haven't posted it yet because we wanted to work out kinks in the English to make sound more poetic and also to make sure it doesn't stray from the original intended meaning.

Nephillim
Firstly, thanks for the promo. Great stuff you have there:). Anyway, I read on Haeleth's site that you have expressed interest in continuing/merging efforts with CR on the English translation of the actual game itself. My question is, if he does not wish to do so, would all of you still decide to translate the game? If you do, MAJOR thanks on behalf of the rest of the "My Japanese isn't THAT great, but I still want to play" crowd.

Our original plan is to translate stuff he hasn't translated and just wait for him to get back to us. Since we'll be both using the same system (Haeleth's dumper, etc.), we should have no problems merging efforts afterwards. If he does not wish to merge after we finish the rest of AIR, we will simply just retranslate the portion he did (from Japanese this time instead from Chinese). However, given what he has done so far, it doesn't look like he would be the kind of person to ignore help. :)

Maceart
Thanks for the TV CM guys. Intersting how the artstyle is more in line of the movie than Kanon! YEAY Can't Wait!

We can't wait either. Michiru headbutt and Potato <3 <3

Maceart

Wow the Prelude CD is out! Let's see...a non credit OP-ED, wonder what the song is... and... O_o Picture disk!!! YEAY. good thing AIR is not a pedolicious game...and only 3 girls this time, not 5 (kanon...)

Prelude DVD doesn't officially come out until 11/17. I don't know if the 50 lucky people watching the show got theirs first.

Maceart

Well I heard about what's inside the Prelude Disc. Can't wait until the subs come out! Maybe they used tori no uta as the OP song...or maybe something NEW from LIA!

Actually, I believe the TV series will be strictly using the BGM from the game. This was announced some time earlier, but I don't quite remember where. I think it was in an interview or at some convention.

Nephillim
Speaking of the music from the game, is there any information that they would be strictly using the game's original mixes or would various other official mixes be used (e.g. The remixed songs from Ornithopter or Refeel)?

I don't think any official info is available, but someone has to know, since they showed ep 1 twice publicly already.

Maceart

Wow the opening looks pretty sweet. Quick question: In the AIR CM's you guys released in .ogm format, there were four audio tracks. The first contained Aozora and Tori no Uta by LIA, and the second was Natsukage and the third was Farewell song. However, I have no idea what the forth track was. Care to elaborate what audio song was used in the forth audio track? Thank you!

The last audio song is Chiisana Te no Hira, found in the Clannad OST

Misuzu
Out of curiousity, are you going to release subscript files of your translations of -Prelude- for those of us who own the DVD? It would be really appreciated __

Yes we will. We were thinking of releasing DVD Subber scripts, but we have to first learn how to use the software ;)

Maceart
Weird...On the TV homepage, Yukito's voice isn't the same as the movie AIR. Does anyone know why there is such a change?

We believe that it's because our encoder got too fed up with Midorikawa (the original voice actor and also in the movie). Actually, we don't exactly know. Since he plays a lot of other roles, he may have been hard to get and the producers probably thought it wasn't too important to keep Yukito's VA)

Amon
Ah, I've been expecting the "Tori no Uta" translation. Thank you very much :) Although it's not as "direct" translation as in animelyrics.com, your translation is much more beautiful and poetic.

Toorisugari
[About the Kanji UTA in "Tori no Uta"]

It's because Japanese people in old days thought "a poem = a song". WAKA is a traditional Japanese poem, and they read one with a stylized melody & rythm. There's no other Kanji for poem in Japanese, I think.

Estara
Thank you very much for your translation of Air TV Episode 1. I love the translation, the fonts used and the great info based on Game Art at the end of the episode. I hope you can keep this level of effort up, but if time should become less available I'd still like you to know that I appreciate your work and the dedication you put into all parts of Air.

Thank you for your feedback. We hope to do our best.

Misuzu
Well, I'm back from a long time ago, and I dont know if Takeda approves of this, but if they dont, just erase this post. For those who BT is not their cup of tea (I know it isnt on my home Verizon DSL), Misu-Net is once again hosting Anime, specifically AIR and the takeda release of it. Have fun with the direct download!

Thanks for your help!

Maceart
Off topic, but I'm wondering, in CLANNAD, how many vocal songs are there? I know "megumeru" and "small palm", any others?

Kage Futatsu(影二つ) and Ana are two other vocal songs I believe. More info from [WWW] http://lias-cafe.com/disco/disco.htm and [WWW] http://key.soundslabel.com/discography.htm

Do you guys have an IRC channel -?

Takeda Honyakubu's IRC channel is #AIR on irc.chatspike.net

Hikaru
Thanks for subbing this series and the explanations with game art at the end. I hope that I am in the right place for this. If not, I apologize. I think that there is a problem at 09:10 in episode 2. It looks like the sub text was not completely removed. My player is BS Player.

If you mean the scene when the lady talking is bowing to Hijiri, she is still talking in that scene, so the subtitles stay on in that scene. Other than that, I am not quite sure what you are referring to.

Hikaru
Yeah, that scene. Only the subtitles didn't stay on. Was it a bad download? Replying to below comment. You see the text in the scene before 09:10 then at 09:10 parts of the subtitle are there, parts are missing and the missing area looked blurred so that it looks like it wasn't completely removed, like what happens when you erase something and little pieces remain with the surrounding area smeared.

I still don't quite get what you are saying. You just said before that a subtitle was not completely removed but now you're saying they aren't staying there?

Oh I see. If it's smearing, then it looks like part of the file might be damaged. Try hopping back onto the torrent to see if it'll fix things. Also make sure you have the latest codecs.

judicatoromega
Um, can someone please explain what nagashi-somen is? To me it appears to be a food game with white noodles flowing down a bamboo stick and the person closest to the top can get their food first (I find that very funny). My suggestion is that you should also define new terms along with the translation notes.

We thought it was rather obvious from what they were doing, so we didn't think we needed to explain it. ; It's simply serving somen (thin noodles) and having them float down a tube filled with water and people along the tube would be able to snatch the noodles as they pass. The person further downstream would be at a disadvantage of course. Here's a nice picture and description of real nagashi-somen: [WWW] http://www.cc.it-hiroshima.ac.jp/intl/Illinoi/2002/yachiyo/eyachiyo.htm

Should add a "contact" part somewhere... Wiki is cool, but email is better.

Takeda Honyakubu has an email now. Thanks for your suggestion.

Misuzu
If anyone cares (but apparently some people do cuase I get a modest amount of hits from here). Takeda's AIR Episodes 2 and 3 are hosted for direct download now! Go to [WWW] http://www.misu-net.com to get it ^~.

Thanks for the help. We appreciate it :)

Koneko Sensei
Fist of all, I want to congratulate you for your EXCELLENT work with AIR, the quality of your fansubs is one of the best indeed. Congratulations!! My question would be when are you going to release Episode 4? I'm really looking forawrd to it! Again, thanks for a great work!

Sorry for the delay. We hope to get it out before the end of the week, assuming I don't get more work piled on me for school and the rest of the staff aren't busy.

AdemoS
Since I couldn't figure out how to comment normally, I just added this myself. Koi has done an incredible job on his releases of Air TV, even translating the credits in the OP. Problem is, the tracker most of his eps were on, moved and the new one doesn't have most of them due to a bug...but eventually it will. Here's the url: [WWW] http://tracker.kukaionline.com Note: Koi had no official website at the time this was written.

Chrono
Um, you do know that Koi has already finihed the series? (it says 1-7 for 'other fansubs') It is available from www.fansub.tv, whose archives are down for the moment, but it is there.

Um... it looks like you misread. It says 1-7 for Lunar and Ishin while being 1-13 for Koi...

Maceart
So Moonphase was right... AIR episode 1-13, plus 2 SUMMER specials equals 15 episodes. The Anipedia TV screenshot was not a hoax. Cool!

What I don't get is why the last DVD will have only 1 episode on it. Are they thinking of doing 1-12, Summer, and then the recap?

AkiRa
Is there any info about how much money did "Air the movie" made in the box-offices? If there is someone should put it in the "Movie Information" page.

I don't have any information about that right now. Sorry.

Carl
Anyone got any info on what the "AIR MIX 2005" DVD is about? [WWW] http://www.amazon.co.jp/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0009S8G5O/250-6506648-1611426?%5Fencoding=UTF8

And what's the difference between the special edition and collectors edition of the AIR movie [WWW] Collector's Edition [WWW] Special Edition edited by zalas: made the links shorter ;

Thanks.

The AIR MIX 2005 looks like some snowboarding video from the review description... The collector's version is basically AIR Movie with the Special Disc and the Booklet that came with preorders of the movie tickets. The special edition has 2 CDs instead. One is a drama CD and the other is a full orchestra CD of the soundtrack. The two editions also have different packaging and design on the box.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Misuzu
Sorry for the delay, AIR Episode 06 is avaible for direct download now.

Thanks for your help

Misuzu
I just noticed this today. You need to correct your HimeyaSoft purchase links since Himeya changed its domain from [WWW] http://shop.himeya.com to [WWW] http://www.himeyashop.com.

Thanks, I've updated the links. Good thing I got the LE of AIR on Yahoo Japan, since even the original version is out of print now.

Dang you zalas! You were probably the person who outbid me when I tried to nail AIR LE on Yahoo! Japan! *gives evil glare* X3...

It wasn't r11386860 was it? ;)

Dagger
Is there any particular timeline regarding when DVD Subber scripts for the R2 DVDs might be made available? If it's not going to happen for a while (or ever), I don't want to get my hopes up.

There is no particular timeline. Right now, I'm a bit too busy to work on resynching the scripts and fixing up stuff so that everything will work. I'm also looking for a way to play subtitles on OSX, so that I don't have to remake the script a few times.

Dalethedino
since there is more than one fansubbed version of air(Movie) now why don't you make a review or a rating system, based on the quality of the groups releases, and post it on your site, cause i've heard the ENA anime subtitled version was crap and i'm not willing to download 1.4GB just to see if this other guys opinion was correct.

Sorry, but I don't think a review of the two fansubs belongs on my site. You should check out [WWW] http://www.anime-planet.com/forum/ and see what the people in the Fansub Quality Comparisons forum say (registration required to see the forum)
