The Cornell Japanese Animation Society (CJAS), an independent student organization at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. Our goal is to bring together as many Cornell anime fans as possible, from the hardcore cosplayer to the casual fan looking to find some more interesting shows. To bring everyone together and foster a sense of community, we feature weekly anime showings and Manga Club meetings, as well as other fun events, such as J-Pop karaoke and our yearly cosplay contest.
Saturdays 6:30 p.m. ‒ 10:30 p.m., Lewis Auditorium, Goldwin Smith Hall
We meet every week to watch (mostly subtitled) anime. Check out our current and past schedules here.
- Games Night
Fridays or Saturdays after Showing, Risley Hall
Every Monday night we meet in the Risley CLR and party it up with tons of board games. We play things like Smashup!, Shadow Hunters, 7 Wonders, and many more. We are always open to new things as well, so if you have a board game that you really love to play, feel free to bring it/let us know so we can obtain it for the club for all to enjoy!
Fridays 5 p.m. ‒ 6 p.m., 144 Goldwin Smith Hall
The CJAS executive board, open to all members, meets weekly to discuss club business. We decide what gets screened during showing and organize the club’s social events. Read more about E-board!
- Manual Dub Night
Come watch CJAS members act out English dubs (silly or serious) for a variety of interesting shows.
- CJAS Dinner
Every semester, we have dinner together on the last day of classes at one of the local restaurants.
Join us in watching 12 hours of anime the week after classes end, to help relieve some stress before finals. We also have an anime Game Show where you can test and show off your knowledge of anime.
We usually have a trivia booth and show a sampler of some fun shows in RPCC.
