Mutual Exclusion

who cares about this story, I wanna hear some songs
So, I'm in this band with my friend Oscar.. we both play guitar and freshman year we both lived in the dorms, so we would have little "jam sessions" every now and then.. so somehow we started discussing what some cool band names would be, and we were both taking CS61A at the time, and there in a footnote of the textbook was the answer.. mutual exclusion! ok, actually i originally thought that mutex would be a cool name, but then Sarah pointed out that it sounded like a feminine hygiene product for mutants so we decided to go with the unabbreviated term.. and that is the story of how mutual exclusion was created.

so yeah, our band still consists of only me and Oscar.. if you play the drums or bass, please feel free to join us (we are situated in the Berkeley area).. or if you haven't actually played the drums or bass before, go ahead and buy yourself the instrument and join us (I'm the veteran band member with 3 whole years of guitar playing experience)

We play mostly just for fun, as a creative outlet, and also of course for our legions of anonymous internet fans, hope you enjoy the music!

Mutual Exclusion is:
me - acoustic & electric guitar (I will make my singing debut soon! ... maybe)
Oscar - vocals & lead electric guitar

here's a sample of some of our songs, these are links to files off of Oscar's site and our mp3.com site .. we basically play rock-type music, though some songs are more rocky than others.. live recordings were made with my portable Sony MD recorder with various inexpensive microphones.. CD recordings were made with better stuff

These are all original songs spawned out of the brains of Mutual Exclusion (well, mostly Oscar's brain)

if you would like to listen to all the songs, you can go to our main mp3.com site and click one of the "play all tracks now!" buttons to stream the tracks

    exclusive live tracks

well these recordings wont sound as good as the cd stuff, but they're good enough as a sample of stuff we've been playing
